Why import GPX instead of entering it manually?
Anyone who plans their tours in Komoot beforehand, or exports them from there, usually already has the route as a GPX file. Importing it into Tourtagebuch saves the double work: instead of typing route data in again, you upload the file - and the route you rode is shown directly on the map.
How to import a GPX file
The import currently runs via the Tourtagebuch web app in the browser. There, when creating or editing a tour, you select the GPX file - for example the export from Komoot - and upload it. Tourtagebuch reads the route out of the file and then shows it as a route on the map.
Can't find the imported tour? Here's how
Because the tour date is taken from the GPX file, an imported tour sometimes doesn't turn up where you'd expect - especially when the ride was a while ago and a date filter is active. In that case a simple trick helps:
- Set the filter to “GPX” to show only imported tours.
- Clear the date filter so that older tours are shown too.
With this combination every imported tour reliably reappears, no matter how long ago the ride was.
In a nutshell
GPX files from Komoot can be imported straight into the Tourtagebuch web app, and the route you rode then appears on the map. Since the tour date comes from the GPX file, the “GPX” filter combined with an empty date filter is worth it for older imports - that way every imported tour is quickly found again.
